Volunteer Opportunities

  • Campus Liaison*

    • Actively engage with first-generation students on campus through various channels, including social media, campus events, and student organizations

    • Promote the benefits and opportunities offered by the First-Generation Alumni Association to encourage membership and participation

    • Create collaborations with on-campus first-generation student organizations

    • Identify and maintain a database of current UF students who want to volunteer with FGAA

    • Assist in organizing/promoting events and activities that connect first-generation students with alumni, such as networking events, mentorship programs, and panel discussions

    • Serve as the primary point of contact between the First-Generation Alumni Association and first-generation students

    • Regularly update FGAA on campus trends, student needs, and feedback to help shape future initiatives and programs

    • Assist students in navigating their college experience by connecting them with appropriate alumni mentors and support systems

    • Represent the First-Generation Alumni Association at campus events, meetings, and other relevant forums

  • Head of Merchandise

    • Develop and execute a comprehensive merchandise strategy that aligns with the association’s goals and branding

    • Identify and select merchandise items that resonate with first-generation students and alumni. This is inclusive of A/B testing merchandise ideas.

    • Design and promote merchandise based off of testing/audience inputs

    • Work with vendors and suppliers to design and produce high-quality merchandise items, such as apparel, accessories, and promotional materials.

    • Work with VP of Communications to create and implement marketing campaigns to promote merchandise to current and prospective members, utilizing various channels such as social media, email newsletters, and events.

    • Oversee the online store and manage inventory, pricing, promotions to maximize sales and engagement, and replenish when needed

    • Identify opportunities for new merchandise partnerships

  • Sponsorship/Fundraising Director

    • Creates and maintains sponsorship opportunities and relationships

    • Create and maintain a tiered concept of sponsorship

    • Maintain relationships with vendors and create partnerships that are equally beneficial to both parties

    • Manages Gator Nation Giving Day and National First-Gen Day fundraising initiatives

    • Maintain a networking database per industry

    • Partner with other Gator Clubs on nationwide initiatives with vendors

    • Develop and maintain partnerships, focusing on donations (monetary, in-kind, event space, merchandise, services, participation, etc.)

    • Drive in-kind donations of either product for raffles, spaces for events, or money for scholarship donations

  • Head of Tech/Webmaster

    • Assist VP Communications with website/E-News design and implementation

    • Coordinate virtual events and be webmaster for Zoom meetings

    • Identify and lead FGAA tech initiatives

    • Maintain database of FGAA members and prospects

    • Provide technical support for website users, addressing any issues related to site functionality, navigation, and accessibility

    • Implement new features and improvements to enhance user engagement and interaction

    • Monitor website traffic and usage statistics using analytics tools to gain insights into user behavior and site performance

    • Prepare regular reports on website and newsletter metrics and suggest strategies for improvement

UF FGAA is looking for volunteers and future board members.

Each member board member is required to:

  • Attend 75% of meetings (We meet on a monthly basis)

  • Get at least 5 donations for Giving Day

  • Own 1 project/event during the year

  • Have a personal relationship with at least 1 other AG/GC
